Rakusui-en is a Japanese garden near Hakata Station.
Built by Hakata merchants as a villa in 1906, it was used as a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) called "Rakusui-shou" after the war and later remodeled as a traditional Japanese garden which features a path around a pond by the Fukuoka city government in 1995.
The tea room "Rakusui-an" has been reconstructed in the same manner as the tea rooms were back when the villa was first built. Visitors can savor the flavor of green tea for a small fee. How about immersing yourself in the elegant lifestyle of wealthy merchants of the olden days here at Rakusui-en?
