I will tell you all about my one-day trip around Hakata. We went to Dazaifu and Starbucks Coffee Shop in the morning, had lunch at Ohori Park and strolled around JR Hakata City in the evening. I put up a lot of photos here, so everyone, please take a look at them.
The God of Learning at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
If it's Dazaifu, the god of learning at the Tenmangu Shrine is definitely famous for it and so we students went on a sightseeing trip to visit the shrine. The moment we arrived at Dazaifu, it became clear to us that it was a popular spot not only for Japanese tourists but also tourists from other countries as well. It was a little bit crowded around Dazaifu with all the foreign tourists and Japanese students on a field trip in the area, making it a bit hard to take proper pictures, but the view provided by the garden was very beautiful. After visiting the Tenmangu Shrine, there's one more place in Dazaifu that is definitely a must-see: the eye-catching Starbucks Dazaifu store located along the road to the shrine. The Starbucks Dazaifu branch is a special store which fuses Japanese and modern culture by way of using both natural and modern materials in its artistically-built architecture. Inside the store, one can take a break while drinking coffee. The store also has this atmosphere where it's possible to take pictures or write down notes which I really like.
A place where a lot of things can be done
I didn't know about this park until recently when a friend invited me and we went there together. When we got there, it was definitely more beautiful than I expected it to be. There's a lake at the center of the park and children's playgrounds around the vicinity. All kinds of fun things can be done here: borrowing a boat and playing around in the lake while looking at the natural scenery, running or walking, or searching for your own spot to read a book. You'll be able to relax and feel good even if you just sit on one of the benches! Conveniently, there are nearby restaurants and cafes if you want to eat or perhaps drink tea after a meal. On top of that, fireworks displays are held in the park during summer. If you come along with a friend while wearing a kimono and watch the fireworks, it will definitely be a good memory! Because the park is near coming from Hakata Station, I recommend going to Ohori Park and escape the hectic city life even for just a moment.
Pray safely at the Tetsudou Shrine rooftop, see Hakata from the viewing deck and look for the trains pulling out of the station!
After coming back from Ohori Park, we originally thought of having dinner somewhere near the hotel we were staying at so we went to JR Hakata City. When we went there, we found a rooftop garden that was almost like a mini amusement park. On the rooftop was not only a garden but also a viewing deck and the Tetsudou Shrine. The way leading to the shrine is lined with souvenir shops and restaurants, but since it was raining that time, most of the shops were closed. A small children's ride called the Tsubame Train was also suspended. However, I was glad to be able to go to such a beautiful plaza. At the end of my one-day trip, finding out about this spot was a surprise! It's a fun place where one can relax. If the weather is good, I think it seems more fun and the scenery from the viewing deck more beautiful, too! I think that not only train-loving people but also anyone can have fun spending time here!
