Kinrin Lake is located in the Yufuin Onsen area of Yufu (formerly Yufuin-cho) in Oita Prefecture. It was named for the scales of a fish called “uroko” whose scales are seen as gold-colored ("kin" in Japanese) when they reflect the illumination of the setting sun. Wondrous sceneries differing from season to season can be seen here: the fresh green of spring, the red leaves of autumn, and the morning fog of winter. These beautiful, natural phenomena can be observed here throughout the year.
