This plum grove is located at the southwest part of Mount Ushinoo in Ogi, around Ushinoo Shrine. When in season around 10,000 plum trees bloom here, making it a popular place for plum blossom viewing since the olden days. The viewing season is from late February to early March, where the fragrance of the blossoms enveloping the whole area draws in visitors both from within and outside Saga Prefecture. Witnessing the view of the grove as well as the open fields of Saga and even Unzen (Nagasaki) from afar is possible from the mountain summit.

The nearby Ushinoo Shrine is an ancient shrine built in the year 796. It was said to have been built on land donated by Minamoto no Yoritomo, and the place where legendary Japanese warriors Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Benkei offered their flags (of war).
