Fushimi Inari Taisha is a shinto shrine in Fushimi, Kyoto and is the head shrine of the 30,000 Inari shrines spread across the country. The largest number of worshippers in the Kinki region visit the shrine on their Hatsumōde (first Shinto shrine visit of the Japanese New Year). It is a popular tourist spot not only for local Japanese tourists but to foreign tourists as well because of its beautiful and vibrantly-colored "senbon torii" (thousand gates; torii are gate-like structures typically found at shrine entrances) in the shrine grounds, which have been featured in some famous movies.
