Hirado Castle was the feudal home and fortress of the then-Hirado daimyo, the Matsuura Clan. It is also known and called as Kameoka Castle. It was built atop a small mountain facing the Hirado Bay. With this view, it was meant to be the naval defense of the Matsuura Clan then. At present time, it has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Finest Castles.
