Spending a day in Fukuoka, we went to the Marine World Aquarium. One will be able to relax both body and mind with the aquarium's gentle atmosphere.
Last year, I went to the Marine World Aquarium together with a teacher and a friend over the summer. Marine World is located north of Fukuoka, at Uminonakamichi. It's very easy to go to the Uminonakamichi Station, but this time around with my teacher driving us there, we went by car instead. In contrast with the heat of the Kyushu summer, it feels cool once you enter the aquarium building. The first sea creature we saw was a gigantic fish at the aquarium lobby! Seeing that, people became excited and took lots of pictures at once! Upon entering the aquarium, the quiet atmosphere was entirely different from the one in the lobby. We saw various sea creatures right away. Aside from being able to see sea turtles, dolphins, lobsters, seals, sharks, etc. there is also a "show pool" where one can see dolphins, killer whales and seals perform. Among the different spots inside the aquarium, my favorite was the huge panoramic water tank! The panoramic water tank spans from the first floor to the second floor with only the tank visibly glittering in the dark. It was very relaxing sitting with people around the water tank, talking about their daily life while watching the various sea creatures swimming here and there. There's also a souvenir shop in the aquarium. I want all the cute stuffed animals sold in the shop! In the end, though, I bought a lobster stuffed toy to take home with me.
