Bayside Place Hakata, where one can enjoy a wide variety of establishments from shopping to gourmet, reopened in March 2010.

The passenger terminals of the Hakata Port Wharf is right next to it. The terminal has city-managed ferries, Hakata Bay cruise ships and the like. Aside from that, there is also the 70-meter tall Hakata Port Tower (free entrance) nearby, an aquarium with a huge cylindrical water tank, and the Wangan Ichiba (Wangan Marketplace), where a lot of fresh seafood are handled, sold, and cooked.

Recently, fugu tents during summer and oyster tents during winter have become a staple event where a huge amount of people participate in.

In March 2014, a buffet restaurant named "Rita no Nouen" opened and has since become very popular due to the local seasonal vegetables and ingredients which they use.
